Over the past years several cardiac regenerative therapies have been investigated. One possible approach would be to target the Hippo pathway, which plays a pivotal role in controlling organ size and tissue growth.Objectives: To assess the expression levels of several Hippo pathway mediators (Fgf6, Amotl1, Ctgf, Cyr61, Tead1, Birc5, Ankrd1, Yap and Taz) in fetal and adult sheep hearts. Methods: On account that ovine cardiomyocytes are mitotic until approximately day 100 of gestation, cardiac tissue samples from 70-day gestation time ovine fetuses (F-70, n=4), 120-day gestation time (F-120, n=4) and adult sheep (AS, n=4) were harvested. RT-qPCR was performed to evaluate the expression of Fgf6, Amotl1, Ctgf, Cyr61, Tead1, Birc5, Ankrd1, Yap and Taz.
