Resumen:
In his last publications, Foucault strives to contrive the philosophical possibilities of an ethical resistance by retrieving his inquiry on the formation of subjectivity.Although his interpretation of Sade as a sergent du sexe focuses on thedisciplinary aspects of the libertine arrangement of the erotic scene, this study seeks to distinguish other constituent elements of Sadean libertinage that are central to understand how the libertine subject is configured in the Sadean text. In this sense, the present paper aims to expand the philosophical analysis of Sadean libertinage applying Foucault?s framework, specifically his account of the technologies of the self. In order to address said task, this study introduces a reconstruction of Sadean libertinage as an exercise that the libertine subject bestows upon his / her body and soul. The goal of this libertine practice -an ascesis that results in apathy - is to acquire a capacity of transformation and endurance enabling the experimentation of various passions. If Sadean libertinage and its ?apathetic ascesis? were indeed understood as a form of concern for oneself, a new vision of the individual?s power of governance over his / her sexuality could arise.
