Resumen:
The study authoritarianism and social dominance orientation (SDO) has a long tradition (Adorno et al., 1950, Bierly, 1985, Pratto, Sidanius, Stallworth and Malle, 1994 Sidanius and Pratto, 1999). Within the authoritarian theory has differentiated the right wing (RWA) of the Left wing (LWA), however only been able to show empirically the right-wing (Altemeyer, 1981, 2006, see also Van Hiel, Duriez & Kossowska, 2006). This study proposes a tentative model including political ideology self-positioning, both types of authoritarianism (RWA and LWA) and SDO. The sample was stratified with proportional allocation compose by 273 undergraduate students whit a age range of 20-35 years. The techniques: Descriptives, correlations, SEM, among others and the instruments include: RWA, SDO, LWA, and ad-hoc questionnaire whit political ideology self-positioning among other variables. The results seem to support partially the theoretical model. A significant correlation between political ideology, authoritarianism (both RWA as LWA) and the SDO. On the other hand, interest in politics seems to modulate the relationship between these variables. The study represents a first approach, as well as a tentative model, bringing together the variables studied. It will be necessary new research using more complex methodologies.
