Resumen:
Fourteen strains of Bacillus thuringiensiscollected from both larvae showing disease symptomsand soil samples in northwest Argentina were characterizedby insecticidal activity against Spodopterafrugiperda. First instar larvae and protein profile SDSPAGEanalysis of whole cell proteins not only allowedthe differentiation of native Bacillus thuringiensis butalso revealed the possibility of applying protein profileanalysis in classification of toxicity patterns. Clusteranalysis showed that there were two main groups.Interestingly, one of them only contained the mostpathogenic native strains. The biomass-bound proteaseactivity of native pathogenic isolates and thereference strain Bt 4D1 is also reported.
