Resumen:
In previous work it was concluded that copper supported on MCM is highly selective for the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde in liquid phase. This result encouraged us to further investigate on copper based catalysts for selective hydrogenation reactions. In the present work, both unsupported and MCM-41 supported copper nanoparticles are studied for the selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde in liquid phase. Comparisons are performed with the corresponding gold catalysts, focusing the attention on the selectivities to the unsaturated alcohol product. The samples are fully characterized in order to describe their morphological and chemical features.
