Resumen:
Based on the case studies of Bologna, Athens and Barcelona, the purpose ofthis research is to analyse the role of urban public spaces in the creation of intercultural andsocial inclusion/exclusion relations. We focus on the use and appropriation of these spacesfrom a gender approach that specifically considers the migrant families experiences. We alsouse the feminist concept of positionality to understand how the social situatedness ofmigrants conditions their citizenship practices (gender, ethnicity, education, immigrationstatus, social class, age and generations, length of stay and migration experiences). Wepropose the idea of citizenship as a social practice that migrants engage in on many scalesand in many public spheres across national boundaries. From this point of view, urban spacesare a vantage point for understanding migrant citizenship practices.
