Resumen:
A maxilla from the upper Miocene of Maimará is described and assigned to the scelidotheriine ground sloth Proscelidodon patrius. The specimen exhibits the multilobed molariform teeth characteristic of Scelidotheriinae. It is the first occurrence of this taxon in the Huayquerian of Jujuy Province, suggesting settlement in Bolivia and the rest of Argentina during the Mio-Pliocene period. This sloth increases the faunal content of the locality, previously known from the procyonid Cyonasua, the didelphoid Sparassocynus, and a glyptodontid.
