Resumen:
Our study aims to provide evidence which contributes to conceivingthe production and interpretation of cartoons as a means to foster: (a)multimodal communication, perspectivism and figurative language, and(b) the development of a personal standpoint regarding social issues. Bydoing so, we seek to offer a blueprint for a cross-curricular approach, involving social sciences, language, and visual arts.In particular, in this chapter we will respond to the following researchquestions:• Do children and adolescents manage to create humorous cartoonswhen they are asked to approach a socio-political issue, such as socialinequalities and social empathy?• Which repertoire of narrative and humorous resources do they displayin their multimodal texts?• What is their personal point of view on social inequalities and socialempathy, represented in their texts?
