Civil Society and political representation in contemporary Argentina

I will distinguish two different patterns of interaction in contemporary Argentine politics: opposition and complementation. During the first two decades of Argentine democracy social mobilization eroded political representation. The de-movementism of politics combined with the partisan dealignment of citizens led to a representation crisis in 2001. The Kirchnerists administrations proposed a new pattern, based on reestablishing the movement model and on a strategy of social polarization.
