Calcium (Ca) intake, bone turnover and obesity are interrelated. A low Ca intake increases bone turnover and it is related to obesity development. Moreover, obesity could affect bone metabolism. The objective was to compare the effect of feeding a low or normal Ca diet (LCa and NCa, respectively) on body weight and composition, bone turnover markers and insulin levels in W and genetically modified Ob rats during growth.
