Resumen:
Reaction time is a widely used measure to quantify decision-making in motor tasks. The inherent processes for decision-making, such as perception and motor production, before expressing an output can be studied with the help of electrophysiological techniques. The aim of the present work was to characterize the temporal cost of motor production and compare the motor planning efficiency with incremental difficulty. Data was taken from 18 subjects performing motor reaction tasks with the arms, the reaction time was split into phases and the results were analyzed based on difficulty and laterality. The results showed differences in time cost between conditions of difficulty, but not between hemibodies. The ratio of motor planning time to reaction time could be an indicator of cognitive demand in a motor task.
