Resumen:
The Andean Patagonian Forests are temperate to cold wet forests which harbor several endemic tree species of families historically related to the biota of New Zealand and Australia. The fungal records of micromycetes on Australasian members of Nothofagaceae and Proteaceae are high. Similar numbers are expectable on South American hosts, but the microfungi diversity in this area is still understudied to draw any conclusions. Therefore, since 2005 we are conducting biodiversity studies of saprobic fungi on native trees of the Andean Patagonian forests with the aim of providing baseline data on diversity and distribution to allow comparisons with data from other geographic regions. Throughout our research we found a wide range of ascomycetes with representatives from over 15 different families and these results are presented here. Most species are cited for the first time on these hosts and several records are new for South America or the Patagonian region. Also, we present descriptions of some specimens that do not match with any known species.
