Resumen:
The environmental sustainability of Mendoza?s urban model, is based on the presence and permanence of the urban forest. The geographical and climatic condition of the site limitate the availability of water resources. The water is essential for tree?s vegetative growth, but their shortage and irregular distribution for irrigation is a problem. This irregularity facilitates conditions of water stress that affects the growth and longevity of the urban forest. For quantify the magnitude and effect of this stress, it is applied a methodology based on Urban Dendrochronology. This paper presents the analysis of growth tree-rings as a tool for diagnosis the vegetative state of trees under water restrictions. The first results show a higher correlation (r = 0.46) in the growth of trees in areas less disturbed by forest management, with the same irrigation condition.
