Resumen:
The emergence of novel events as the covid-19 pandemic questions the worldviews of individuals and groups, elicits a collective coping process. The resolution of the "socio-cognitive conflict" of making the unfamiliar familiar leads to the elaboration of a representation through the processes of anchoring and objectification. Within this framework, an empirical study was carried out with the purpose of investigating the characteristics of these processes activated in samples from Argentina, Brazil, Spain and Portugal. Similarities and differences are analyzed along with risk perception, well-being and in-group protection probably reinforcing authoritarian and dominance beliefs as a way of dealing with the "threat" caused by the disease. Finally, it is explored the processes of reduction to social schemes of persons, roles and scripts activated delimiting the ?good guys and bad guys.
