Resumen:
A new genus for Oonopidae, Puan, is described for Argentina. Members of Puan lack the male clypeal horn characteristic of Unicorn Platnick & Brescovit; the presence of spines separates this genus from Xiombarg Brignoli. Also, copulatory bulb is very different from those genera. Two species, P. chechehet and P. nair are described from specimens collected with pitfall traps in the southwestern mountains of Buenos Aires province. We hypothesized that Puan should be close related with Unicorn and Xiombarg Brignoli. These genera together with Orchestina Simon and Cortestina Knoflach share plesiomorphic characters present in Orsolobidae as well, such as a well-sclerotized sperm duct in male palps, and an H-shaped eye pattern. We propose that the validity of Sulsula Simon, Calculus Purcell and Ferchestina Saaristo & Marusik should be revised.
