Reason and Nature: The Incomplete Reconciliation

The first part of this essay presents an analysis of the emergence of Davidson’s position from the Quinean’s context; also exposes the principal points of Davidson own arguments. The second part shows how these arguments constitute the point of departure of McDowell’s position. In this section, the main problematic issues of McDowell’s arguments are visited. Finally, the essay shows which are the points that can be considered in order to criticise McDowell’s attempt to reconciliate reason and nature.
