Resumen:
The goal of this article is to analyze the process of translating C189, focusing on the law making practices of the three countries in question. The aim is to understand the disputes that determine the way in which the rights from the convention are incorporated into the laws passed in Argentine in 2013, in Chile in 2014 and in Paraguay in 2015. The empirical material analyzed includes all labor legislation covering paid domestic work, local labor codes, and congressional records of all three countries. In order to provide a detailed comparison of the three cases, the analysis will focus on the definition of domestic work, particularly in the conception of care work within the new laws.
