Resumen:
The concept of ecosystem services (ES) refers to different goods and benefitsthat society obtains from natural ecosystems (Daily, 1997). One way tographically represent ES is with a cascade model (Haines-Young and Potschin,2010). This methodology allowed us to understand the connections betweennatural and social systems, and the synergies (positives and negatives) that canlimit the provision of ES (Reyers et al., 2013). We proposed a model for forestedlandscapes in southern Patagonia (Fig. 1) that provided an understanding of howdifferent vegetation types (e.g. forests, grasslands, high mountain vegetation)provided specific ecological functions (e.g. biomass growth, water regulation)and produced different ES (e.g. raw material, livestock, water provision).
