Resumen:
This paper presents studies undertaken to support the development of the UNDP Project ´Yabotí Biosphere Station´ situated in the Provincial Reservation ?La Esmeralda?, Province of Misiones. The building group, a demonstration project of low impact environmental design with energy autonomy, houses a director, 2 resident park-rangers, and 12 researchers during academic visits undertaking field studies in biodiversity. The design of the building, located in Argentine Bioclimatic zone 1a, very hot with low thermal swing, aims to reduce environmental impacts, promote natural conditioning and occupant comfort, achieve rational use of energy and water and use renewable energy. The paper describes the environmental conditions, the development of design decisions and the use of verification and optimisation techniques, with conclusions on the application of numerical and physical simulation during the design process.
