Resumen:
In Advance Strategic Management, we will address the processes that determine competition and performance. We will consider how industries evolve under the product life cycle, differentiating them from commodity industries. We will examine the evolution of the macroeconomic context and explore the impact of competition. We will dig into the evolution of regulations and laws that determine competition in different countries around the world. We will examine the fundamental trends in environmental change and how they impact competition. Lastly, we will analyze the specific ways in which the digital revolution influences competition.Throughout, we draw on adaptive leadership theory, exploring how different competitive situations affect, cause, and exacerbate tensions within an organization, as well as impacting individual change challenges. In what follows, we distinguish between scientific models of reality and practical tools that are used to develop corporate strategies. Models are simplifications of the business reality that help organize the information and give plausibility to our expectations about the future. Tools, though, are just contexts for collective conversations that help people reach consensus on current challenges and group goals. Our themes, insights, and findings have global relevance, and we have sought to illustrate them with examples from a variety of industries and locales. We have endeavored to introduce examples from that region and elsewhere. But, as with most western business literature, there is an inevitable bias toward U.S. organizations, given their market dominance.
