In this work an indirect global convergent adaptive control for nonlinear systems in the canonical strict-feedback form is developed. It results from the combination of a locally Lyapunov-stable controller with simple projection surfaces as parameter restrictions with an off-line global estimator. Suitable initial conditions provided by the nonlinear estimator are switched when certain bounds of confidence are crossed away by the estimates. Under theoretical assumptions concerning the model structure, local identifiability, state boundness and persistency of excitation, the global convergence is ensured. Moreover, local asymptotic or exponential convergence is achieved in a neighborhood of the true parameters.
