An Integrating Approach for Modeling Nonlinear Dynamic Systems with Embedded Logic

This article presents and integrating approach for modeling of technical systems which are composed by a combination of smooth nonlinear dynamics with embedded logic (e.g., rule-based systems, gain schedulers, switching adaptive laws). This approach consists in dividing the state space domain properly in convex regions and defining approximating piecewise linear functions on them. The resulting global trajectories of the model dynamic are analized in the context of theory of Filippov of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side and regularization methods for structure variable systems.
