Resumen:
In the coastal zone of the Bengal delta, frequent outbreaks of cholera and gastroenteritis caused byVibrio cholerae and other Vibrio spp., respectively, affect millions of people every year. Most ofthe cholera pandemics as well as the current pandemic of V. parahaemolyticus gastroenteritis arebelieved to be originated from this tropical coast. However, little is known on the interactions ofenvironmental factors regulating Vibrio populations in this low-lying estuarine zone, which isparticularly prone to be altered by the predicted climate change events. The present study wasaimed to understand the role of environmental factors influencing Vibrio populations in theestuarine zone of Bangladesh.
