Resumen:
Comparative study of the genital structures in the tribe Nycteliini (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae). Female genitalia (sterna VIII, ovipositor, and genital tubes) and male genitalia (sterna IX and aedeagus) of nine Nycteliini genera are described and illustrated, most of them for the first time. The study showsthat female genitalia contribute with more diagnostic characters than male genitalia A phylogenetic analysis based on 10 genital characters polarized using Praocini as outgroup, yielded one cladogram. The cladogram shows that Gyriosomus is the sister genus to the remaining namely, Epipedonota, Entomoderes, Pilobalia, and one major clade, which includes Auladera-Mitragenius as the sistertaxon of Nyctelia, Psectrascelis, and Scelidospecta.
