Resumen:
A 2-years research project (1994-1996) was developed in the open fields of Trancas, Tucumán, northwestern Argentina, being the main objective to determine the natural enemies of a pest fly, the horn fly Haematobia irritans irritans (L.), a cattle ectoparasite whose immature stages inhabit cattle dung. The comparison between the major predator families present in dung show that even histerids were present in a higher number tha staphylinids, the former were restricted by seasonal factors in contrast with the latter which were present through all year, indicating a greater resistance to extreme environmental conditions.
