Resumen:
Bio-recognition devices have captured specialattention because they combine biological specificity andselectivity with electronics to perform environmental andbiomedical analysis. Lindane is a recalcitrant pesticideconsidered potential carcinogen that has caused seriouspollution problems. The purpose of the present study is toevaluate Streptomyces sp. M7 ability to dechlorinate lindane inliquid defined media in adverse culture conditions. Bacterialactivity was monitored by electrochemical impedancespectroscopy. These results confirm that the microorganismadhered to a solid support is able to grow and to metabolize theorganochlorine pesticide as a sole carbon source. Therefore,Streptomyces sp. M7 can be applied for a future development ofa prototype for lindane detection and quantification.
