Nitrogen and carbon abundances were measured in minerals and glasses of chondritic meteorites by nuclear reaction analysis (NRA). This technique in addition of being non-destructive -and thus very important when working with precious samples- also yields depth information. This makes it possible to measure the N and C contents as well as their distribution over a thickness that will vary according to the density of the target. The distribution can be examined by comparing the proton energy peaks with those of the standard. Analyses were performed with a 5 x 5 µm2 beam size and an integrated charge (Q) from 0.5 to 1 µC
