Allele frequencies and forensic parameters for 20 autosomal STR loci included in the PowerPlex® 21 System (Promega Corp, USA) were estimated in a sample of 907 unrelated individuals from two regions of Argentina: a Central Region (N = 464) including urban samples from Catamarca, Córdoba, Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires provinces; and a Southern Region (N = 443) including urban samples from Chubut, Neuquén and Santa Cruz provinces. No significant deviations from Hardy?Weinberg equilibrium were found. Comparisons with other previously studied populations were also done.
