Resumen:
The microstructure developed in metallic alloys by any kind of thermo-mechanical treatment has been studied by many techniques, like optical and electronic microscopy and x-ray diffraction. It has also been inferred by macroscopic techniques like mechanical tests. Some of those techniques are capable of analyzing the developed microstructure from a microscopic view point and some others collect the data in a way that needs further modeling and some kind of ?deconvolution? procedure. Transmission Electron Microscopy is the smallest scale probe technique but unfortunately has the drawback of having poor statistics. Mechanical tests, either static or dynamic like mechanical spectroscopy, are difficult to interpret due to their macroscopic nature. Quite recently Orientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM) has come on age to offer a middle scale testing capability. However, many of its quite sounding statistical capabilities still lack a proper quantification [1]. We will present a comparison of x ray peak broadening analysis by using Williamson-Hall technique and a few misorientation parameter calculations obtained from OIM patterns [2].
