Resumen:
A novel yeast species was isolated from the stromata of Cyttaria hariotii collected from two different Nothofagus tree species in the Andean forests of Patagonia, Argentina. Phylogenetic analyses of the concatenated sequence of the rRNA gene sequences (D1/D2 large subunit gene and internal transcribed spacer) and the protein-coding genes for actin and translational elongation factor-1α indicated that the novel species belongs to the genus Hanseniaspora and is most closely related to Kloeckera taiwanica. PCR fingerprinting with two microsatellite primers allowed the distinction of the novel species and its close relatives. The genetic divergence of the two strains belonging to this new species was also assessed by PCR fingerprinting with two microsatellite primers. Genome analysis revealed?. Based on the results of the phenotypic and genetic characterization, a novel yeast species with the name Hanseniaspora gamundiae sp. nov. is proposed with CRUB 1928T
