Resumen:
This paper describes the characterization of a Tospotirus isolate (M316) from Mendoza, Argentina. The N gene was cloned and sequenced. The sequence obtained was compared with the N gene sequences of other tospoviruses. The percentages of the nucleotide homology and amino acid similarity showed that this isolate may be considered a member of the species groundnut ringspot virus (GRSV). The conclusion drawn from the molecular studies was confirmed by DAS-ELISA and western blotting. This is thefirst report of GRSV in Argentina, previously described for a South African (SA-05) and Brazilian (BR-08) isolates.
