Resumen:
Different motmorillonites (MMT) were added to poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) in order to improve their properties. PVA+MMT films, obtained by casting, were characterized by means of FTIR, DSC, TGA, DRX, TEM, water absorption, contact angle and mechanical properties. Sodium and organically modified MMTs were used. The MMT basal peak shifted to a lower angle for composite with sodium MMTs, and the film were exfoliated-intercalated nanocomposites. Composite with organically modified MMT presented a micro morphology. The best mechanical properties were obtained for the sodium MMTs and the composite with MMT 30B presented the lowest water absorption.
