"Power and Impotence of Elites in Argentina. Who, what and how do they exert influence?

Based on the Argentine case, this paper examines the powers and impotencies of contemporary elites. It addresses three questions: Who are designated as elites? What capacity do we attribute to their actions? How do they exert their influence? Throughout these dimensions, it proposes that although elites manage to benefit from the institutional framework, they have little capacity to mobilize in pursuit of common objectives. We affirm that, faced with crises, capital acquired the power to exit those territories that do not serve it, popular belligerence found a voice in social networks and streets, but loyalty towards authorities is increasingly extraordinary.
