Resumen:
The aim of this paper is to address some issues regarding kinship and patron-client bonds in Syria-Palestine during the Late Bronze Age, using examples from the Amarna letters and Hittite treaties. The main focus
is on the socio-political nature of patronage and its relationship to kinship ties in society, b) patronage and family metaphors in the political dynamics of the period, and c) why and how patronage relationships are
established in society.
