Resumen:
This article analyzes the labour force organization in colonial Charcas (present-day Bolivia). The analysis is focused on one of the three most important colonial economic systems: mining. Together with agrarian haciendas (estates) and the native production of agrarian resources on lands under indigenous collective possession, it involved the largest quantity of labour force. The first two sectors (mining and haciendas) attracted an important labour force that came from the third economic system which was additionally modified by colonial actions.
