Resumen:
The existence of a binary propellant composition that optimizes the propulsion process by IR laser ablation has been determined in a previous work [1]. A method to characterize propellants for laser propulsion by determining the maximum of the coupling coefficient, Cm, was also developed [1]. This method is based on the measurement of the laser fluence dependence of the photoacoustic signal. The critical ablation fluence depends on the solid propellant mixture (Zn/CaCO3 %). Therefore, in order to compare the Cm values in optimal conditions, the critical ablation fluence for each target composition was determined in this work. On the other hand, a comparative study of the optimized Cm values using Al nozzles of different sizes on the ablation targets was performed to improve the Cm values.
