VIDEOCHEMILUMINESCENCE: A simple technique to investigate reaction dynamics of excited species

A simple and low cost technique consisting of recording the spatial distribution of luminescence and/or chemiluminescence of reagents or products with a CCD camera is described. Applications to total attenuation and total reaction cross-section measurements of Ca(3P1) with several atomic and molecular targets are presented, together with a comparison with other currently used techniques.
