Resumen:
Scenedesmus obliquus microalga was studied while cultivated in different culture mediums. It was analyzed its nutritionalcomposition and its potential to be used as bio-input in vegetable cultures. Two culture mediums were utilized:Allen&Arnon and BG1, both supplemented with NO3-and carbon sources. The carbon source, CO2, was incorporated asrequired in order to maintain the pH in 8,0±0,1. Bioreactors in a culture chamber were used at 25±1oC, photoperiod andconstant agitation by bubbling air were employed. Cell density, microalgal biomass, mineral composition, phenols andtotal carotenoids were determined periodically. The major microalgal biomass was reached using Allen&Arnon con NO3-and CO2. The microalgal growth was described by Gompertz, von Bertalanffy y Logistico ́s models, being Logistico ́smodel the best explaining the experimental results. Microalgal culture presented high concentrations of nutrient andbioactive components. Microalga Scenedesmus obliquus culture, cultivated in Allen&Arnon with NO3- and CO2, is asuitable source of nutrients and secondary metabolites. Consequently, it could be utilized as bio-input in vegetablecultures, being alternative to the use of synthetic chemical products.
