Resumen:
Chiral Catalysis: What is it? Why is it important? Enatiomerically pure chemicals are essential in pharmaceutical industry Homogeneous Chiral Catalysis (Sharpless, Knowles and Noyori, Nobel Prize 2001), through metallic compounds with chiral ligands, is used today Heterogeneous Chiral Catalysis, through enantioselective adsorption on template surfaces, is being developed. A template surface is a metallic surface where a chiral modifier has been adsorbed producing enantioselective “pockets”, where a particular enantiomer of a probe chiral species will be preferentially adsorbed.
