Resumen:
The separation of CO2 from CO2‐CH4 mixtures is an important issue in natural gas and biogas purification/upgrading for energy generation applications. The adequate design of such processes depends on the knowledge of the behavior of multicomponent adsorption, particularly that of CO2‐CH4 mixtures. There has always been an effort in the scientific literature to predict multicomponent adsorption equilibria based on the adsorption isotherms of each of the pure components. The Ideal Adsorbed Solution Theory (IAST)[1]has been fulfilling this need for more than 40 years. However, the development of DFT and Monte Carlo simulation methods[2] has encouraged the development of more accurate methods in the last 2 decades. In the present work we propose a new model, based on Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations, which combines the two PSDs of the component gases weighed according to their molar fraction in the gas phase.
