Resumen:
This entry seeks to present different critical approaches to the relationship between two interdisciplinary fields of inquiry: translation studies and feminist studies. Many scholars in translation studies and practising translators have adopted different feminist perspectives on their academic or professional work for decades. More recently, feminist scholars and activists (namely those working from a transnational perspective) have become more interested in the study of translation, considering it instrumental in enabling cross-border alliances to challenge prevailing hegemonies, most especially in today?s world defined by globalisation and neoliberal values. These interdisciplinary encounters have led to an unprecedented epistemological and geopolitical growth in feminist translation studies. We will describe the main areas of research, including the metaphorics of translation, women translators throughout history, women writers in translation, the translation of feminist theories, the use of inclusive language in literary and non-literary translation, queer translation and some other emerging themes. Special attention will be paid to recent contributions developed in feminist translation studies from intersectional and decolonial perspectives.
