Resumen:
CNP bind to NPRB, a transmembrane receptor encoded in Npr2 gene. NPRB activation leads to asecond messenger cascade signalling commanded by cGMP. Its mRNA is expressed in bones, chondrocytes, vascular smooth muscle cellsand fibroblasts, as well as in ovary tissue. It also expressed in brain andlungs. NPRB plays criticalphysiological and pathophysiological roles in long bone growth by regulating endochondralossification, cardiovascular diseases and hypertension, and also in oocytematuration. It has been shown that some polymorphisms are related to the developmentof essential hypertension and infertility, but above all, mutations of Npr2 geneare related pathologies associated with growing diseases like AMDM and ACH. Although newknowledge have been updated in last years, further in vitro assays, experiments in animalmodels, and clinical trials, using molecular biology techniques will providecomplementary insights tobetter understand and characterize this receptor and its gene.
