Rationale: We previously showed that chronic T. gondii infection diminishes the susceptibility to develop experimental OVA-induced atopic dermatitis. While systemic and local Th1/Th2 cytokines were reduced, no differences were observed in regulatory cytokine production or CD4+Foxp3+ Treg cells. We hypothesized that T. gondii could modulate allergic sensitization by regulating the innate immune response. In this work we began to study the effect of parasite infection on antigen priming.Methods: Splenocytes from chronically infected and non-infected BALB/c mice were co-cultured with purified naive CD4+ T cells from DO11.10 mice along with OVA. Bone-marrow derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) were obtained from both experimental groups, by culturing bone-marrow precursors for nine days with GM-CSF-conditioned medium and then matured with LPS.Results: Lower levels of IL-5 and IFN-γ were detected when DO11.10 CD4+ T cells were co-cultured with splenocytes from infected compared to non-infected mice (p
