Resumen:
Pennatulaceans live in soft bottoms, they have autozooids and siphonozooids. Siphonozooids are at the bottom of the colony, whereas autozooids are in the middle and top. Malacobelemnondaytoni is dominant in shallow waters at Potter Cove. The aim was to analyze the morphological gradient of the oocytes within the rachis. Reproductive cycle was examined by histological analysis. M. daytoni is dioeciouswith a sex ratio of 1:1. The oocytes are surrounded by follicle cells, and are released into the longitudinal canal before they are fully differentiated. The specieislecithotrophic and broadcast spawned with external fertilization.
