Primates are threatened around the world. Factors including exponential human population growth, loss and transformation of habitat, poverty, and hunting affect primate population in several ways. Sanctuaries offer a good alternative to protect primates, and these represent organizations that house, care for, and support ?unwanted? nonhuman primates or are focused primarily on rehabilitation or reintroduction of nonhuman primate species.
