Resumen:
From the immunological point of view pregnancy implies a pro inflammatory response during the implantation that will be shift toward a tolerogenic one. Particularly, the vasoactive intestinal pepetide (VIP) is produce by trophoblast cells and displays multiple target circuits that allow the tolerance to pregnancy-related antigens. Since progesterone (Pg) is essential from early stages of pregnancy, we evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of Pg and VIP on the trophoblast cell function and their interaction with maternal immune cells. Hence, we used an in vitro model based on the Swan71 cell line co cultured or not with PBMC from fertile women. We observed that after the co culture between Swan cells and maternal PBMC in the presence of VIP (10-7M) and Pg (10-4M), the production of inflammatory mediators as nitrites (by Griess Method) and the activity of MMP9 (by Zymography) in the supernatants was decreased as well as COX-2 expression (by RT-PCR) (p
