Resumen:
The present research applied the HERVAT Neuroeducational program, which was developed in Spain by Ortiz-Alonso. HERVAT program is very simple to apply and has three basic principles: repetitive, regular, precise and systematic daily exercises; exercises associated with very short duration times for the hippocampal circuit to work properly; and immediate exercises prior to school learning. The name of the program (HERVAT) already indicates what your procedure is like: Hydration, Balance, Breathing, Vision, Hearing, and Touch. The first three seek a stable neurophysiological state and the rest are systemic sensory stimulation, which activates the nervous system. These exercises must be done before each class, they only take 5 minutes in their application and can be executed for any age. Thus, the present research aimed to demonstrate effectiveness of HERVAT to improve attention and school achievement in children and adolescents. Methods: a sample of 82 children from three courses in a private primary school in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina was constituted. Also, a sample of 73 adolescents from two courses in a private secondary school in Paraná, Entre Ríos was constituted. A pretest-posttest design was carried out in which the participants completed the Brickenkamp d2 attention questionnaire and the qualifications of all the school subjects were requested. Results: the results indicated significant differences in total responses and success. When performing the same procedure for adolescents, similar findings were detected in attention. Regarding school achievement, results suggested significant differences in qualifications in mathematics and literacy in children. When performing the same procedure for qualifications in adolescents, no differences were found. Discussion: the results would indicate that the HERVAT program would apparently be effective in increasing attention for both children and adolescents. That in the qualifications no differences have been detected in adolescents, it may be due to the size of the sample, that depends on the criteria of each teacher, and the short time of application of the program.
