Resumen:
This paper  examines the impact of having stressful relationships -either higher levels of negative exchanges or lower level of support or both- with mother, father, best friend and romantic partner on three important outcomes of adolescent development (depression, anxiety and substance use). Relationships with father, mother, best friend and romantic partner predicted depressive symptoms better than anxiety symptoms and the latter better than level of substance use. A stressful relationship with father -either higher levels of negative exchanges or lower level of support or both- had a large effect on the three outcomes simultaneously considered; maternal and romantic relationships showed a moderate effect size and bond with a best friend, only a small one.
