Resumen:
The aim of this work was to compare the antioxidant capacity of B. incarum using different extraction techniques: low-pressure methods and critical-pressure operations (pressure between 85 to 95 atm). Extraction by Soxhlet, maceration with etanol 80% and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) using CO2 modified by ethanol as co-solvent to different concentrations, 5%, 10% y 15 %, v/v were performed. SFE-15%EtOH demonstrated the highest total phenolic compounds and flavonoid contents. The autography assay using the ABTS radical show that in all cases 5,4`-dihydroxy - 3,6,7,8,3` pentametoxyflavone is extracted. This antioxidant compound isolated from B incarum, was used in this work as reference compound. The ABTS radical scavenging spectrophotometric assay showed the following order of potency: Soxhlet > Maceration > EFS-15%EtOH = EFS-10%EtOH > EFS-5%EtOH. SFE were more efficient for the phenolic compounds/ total flavonoids and antioxidant flavone. Keyword: Baccharis incarum, supercritical fluid extraction, antioxidant activity.
