This article intends to discuss some thesis about the meaning of technology in Maliandi’s Cultura y conflicto. First, it recontructs Maliandi’s concept of technology understood as a “prosthesis”. Then it takes his notion of “axiological ambiguity” to focus the problem of neutrality of artefacts. Lately this paper analyses the contradiction between two approaches to technology in his work: one centered in the biological image of “compensation”, the other directed to a more complex comprehension of its political and social aspects.
